How It Works

Bio-Mechanical, ultraviolet pond filters depend on establishing a colony of bacteria on the surface of the media that converts dissolved toxic nitrogenous waste to harmless compounds.

When the bacteria are given the proper environment, they grow in a thin biofilm on the surface of each piece of media. The larger the surface area, the larger the bacterial colony. Our UV bio filter surpasses the competition in this area with four to seven times the surface area of any other media available.
